The Marina del Rey Marriott

MobiCom 2006 will be held at the beautiful Marina del Rey Marriott. Modern and vibrant from floor to ceiling, the newly renovated guest rooms and suites combine color, comfort and style with flexibility and functionality. Accented by rich mahogany and trendy updated patterns and light fixtures, the Marina del Rey Marriott is truly unique. All the rooms feature a French Balcony with views of the Pacific Ocean, local beaches, the Marina, and the Santa Monica Mountains. The hotel's California Ballroom, lobby, lobby bar, and restaurant have all been renovated over the past year.

The hotel is located just across the street from a Marina (the world's largest man-made harbor, with 12 acres of beach) and is only three blocks from the start of the world famous Venice Beach. There are more than 20 restaurants within a three block radius of the hotel, in addition to bike, kayak, and skate rental shops, boat tours, and miles of bike paths for everyone's enjoyment.

A block of rooms has been arranged at the Marina del Rey Marriott Hotel at discounted rates for MobiCom 2006 attendees. The conference rate for either a single or double room is $175.00, and the rate for each additional person in a room is $20.00. These rates are exclusive of applicable state and local taxes. You can get these special hotel rates either by telephone or on the web:

By telephone, please contact the Marriott reservations at 1 (800) 228-9290 or go visit the Marriott's MobiCom site to secure your reservation on line. You must identify yourself as attending "ACM MobiCom" when contacting the hotel.

All reservations must be accompanied by a first night room deposit, or guaranteed with a major credit card. Hotel will not hold any reservations unless secured by one of the above methods.

The cut-off date for reserving rooms at these special rates is 5:00 p.m. local time at the hotel on August 22, 2006. These rates are also offered three days prior to and three days after the conference, subject to rate and availability.

The hotel is located at 4100 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey, California 90292. Driving directions are provided by the hotel. For additional information, visit the hotel's web page.

   Traveling to Los Angeles

Los Angeles is easily reached by air through Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). LAX is one of the largest airports in the US and is served by many domestic and international airlines, with flights from cities around the world. Though Los Angeles can also be reached through alternative airports (see below), we recommend LAX as it is very close (6 miles) to the MobiCom hotel.

Many options for ground transportation from the airport are available, including taxis, shuttle services, or rental cars. Getting around Los Angeles is easy if you have your own or a rental car. If not, taxis are easy to find and can take you anywhere you want to go.

There are four alternative airports in the greater LA area. Burbank Airport (BUR) is just north of LA, about 25 miles from the hotel. Long Beach Airport (LGB) is south of Los Angeles, 28 miles from the hotel, but only serves a few major airlines. John Wayne International Airport (SNA) in Santa Ana, also known as Orange County Airport, is further south at about 50 miles from the hotel. Lastly, Ontario International Airport (ONT) is directly east, 60 miles from the hotel.

Things To Do in Los Angeles

The greater Los Angeles area has practically everything you could imagine in the way of food, entertainment, and sightseeing. However, due to its size, it can be difficult to find what you want nearby. In order to provide some ideas, we have compiled several possible dining selections and attractions that are close to Marina del Rey, where the hotel is located.

   Current Los Angeles Weather

On average, September is the warmest month of the year in Los Angeles. Unless there is an unexpected change, expect sunny, summer weather. Be sure to check back before the conference and look at the 10 day forecast on weather.com.
