Uppsala and the Main Conference VenueUppsala is the fourth largest city in Sweden, but still retains the charm of a small town. Uppsala is dominated by its university - the oldest in Scandinavia with around 38,000 students. The conference is held at Uppsala castle. The castle began construction in 1549 by order from Gustav Vasa, who was the king of Sweden at the time and now lies buried in Uppsala cathedral. Today, the castle is the residence of the Governor of Uppsala County. It is conveniently located close to downtown Uppsala. All hotels and other venues are within walking distance (see the map further down). There are also buses that stop close to the castle. Climate: June is an early summer month in Sweden with pleasant weather and an average day temperature around 20C (70F). Be prepared for occasional rain and for cooler evenings and nights, requiring a jacket or sweater. Currency: The currency in Sweden is Swedish Krona (SEK). 1 USD is approximately 8 SEK. Use a currency converter for up to date exchange rates. More Information about Uppsala: Flights
