A Night on the Town-Dallas
Style!
- Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Dallas, and take in the sights that make
Dallas a world class city! From one of the most recognizable skylines
in country, to some of the sights that only Dallas can boast of
having. The tour will conclude in Dallas' West End Historic District.
Admission to Dallas Alley is included in the tour. Dinner is on your
own at one of the West End's many restaurants. Tour
Price: $16.00 USD.
Some of the Many sights you will experience on the tour are:
- Mustangs of Las Collinas: Located in
Williams Square, Nine larger-than-life, bronze Mustangs run and splash
their way across a granite stream and waterfall.
- Reunion Tower: 50-Story tower with
Observation deck, cocktail lounge and restaurant
- City Hall: Designed by I.M. Pei; this
inverted wedge shaped building contains a beautifully landscaped plaza,
which is home to Henry Moore's largest bronze sculpture.
- Pioneer Plaza: Located in between Dallas
City Hall and the Dallas Convention Center are 50 bronze Steers and their
cowboy escorts meandering (or stampeding) down through a waterfall and
downtown.
- The Art's District: Home to the Dallas
Museum of Art, the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center (also designed by
I.M. Pei); Belo Mansion
- Trammell Crow Sculpture Garden: Across
the street from the Dallas Museum of Art contains more than 20 statues
from the French Masters. Set peacefully in cascading waters and garden
- Fair Park: resplendent with cobbled
walk-ways, flowing fountains, lovely esplanades and the largest collection
of 1930s art-deco architecture in the U.S. This 277-acre park is open
year round and is home to the State Fair of Texas, and a variety of
Museums, including, but not limited to:
- African American Museum
- Horticulture Center
- Hall of State: Centerpiece of
the 1936 Texas Centennial and one of America's finest examples of
Art Deco Architecture.
- Fountain Place: Downtown water garden
with 172 "bubbler fountains." The central court fountain has 360 fountain
heads. Set at the base of a spectacular prism shaped tower, which is the
work of I.M. Pei.
- Thanks-Giving Square: unique interfaith
chapel, museum, meditation garden, bells and fountains
- Deep Ellum: Former industrial
neighborhood now home to a variety of cutting edge and avant-garde
creative and artistic talent. Daytime sports a quite residential
neighborhood, as most of the buildings contain loft style apartments.
However, at night, the streets come alive with restaurants, clubs, and
nightspots, and the music never stops-from Jazz to Heavy Metal.
- The tour will also include portions of the famed drive President
John F. Kennedy took that fateful day in November 1963, including: ·
- Dealy Plaza: Small park located
at Dallas' triple underpass
- The Texas School Book Depository:
home to the Sixth Floor Museum, and educational exhibition on the life,
death and legacy of President John F. Kennedy
- John F. Kennedy Memorial:
Starkly simple memorial is located at the Dallas County
Historical Plaza behind Old Red Courthouse.
- Dallas' Historic West End District: What
once were warehouses and an old candy and cracker factory has been
transformed into one of Dallas' hottest nightspots. West End is filled
with restaurants, bars, specialty and Dallas Alley. Housed in two
renovated 19th Century Buildings, Dallas Alley is made up of nine
nightclubs that ffer everything from the latest in Top 40 dance, rock to
rhythm and blues to country.
